Growing Up Lesbian: Meet Kaylee...

Greetings. My name is Kaylee Larson. I am the owner of LesbianLoveNow.com, and yes, I'm a lesbian – more specifically, a lipstick lesbian. I first discovered I liked girls as a child when my best friend, Alison (from my third grade class), slept over one night. I experienced feelings for her that I will not soon forget. Those feelings forever changed my life, guiding me down a path of rich opportunity while growing up.
My path thus far has not been without hardships, however. Even though I realized my true nature at a young age, I kept my feelings for other girls a secret for seven years. By the time I turned 14, however, I could no longer continue to hide my feelings. During my freshman year of high school, I began to want very much to connect with other girls like me for friendship and romance.

That fall I became friends with a new girl in my class, Nikki. We became very close during the days that followed. One day, while we worked on our homework together in my bedroom, Nikki leaned over and kissed me on my cheek. She then laughed it off, saying she was "just playing." Without even a thought, I leaned in and kissed Nikki on her lips, and we began to make out. I felt ecstatic. My first kiss, and with a girl!
After we kissed, Nikki told me that she was bisexual. I then told Nikki I was a lesbian – she was the first person I told. We became secret girlfriends that night, but a few weeks later we broke up when Nikki fell back in love with her ex-boyfriend. I was devastated. We tried being just friends for the months that followed, but eventually Nikki and I drifted apart.
About three months after Nikki and I broke up, I finally came out to my mom and dad. We had always enjoyed a very close family bond, but up to that point I had never felt the confidence to tell my parents that I had feelings for other girls, as I didn't want them to view me differently. There had been many times I wanted to tell them, but I could never get the words to come out of my mouth.
The night I came out to my parents wasn't exactly a planned event. I was feeling depressed over another girl I liked, and my parents couldn't help but notice my despair. I was lying on my bed, crying, and my parents came into my room to console me. Half-jokingly, my dad said, "Okay, what's his name?" Turning my head the other way, I whispered, "Her name, Dad," and the rest is history.
My parents have been nothing but caring and supportive since they learned my secret, and I have felt so liberated ever since. We talked quite a bit that night, and opening up to them helped me summon the courage to come out to my friends during the days that followed. Since coming out, I have also had several (non-serious) open relationships. But not too long ago, I met Jessica, the girl of my dreams.
Of all the places to find love, I met Jessica through online personals. I never thought I would meet a girl on the internet and fall in love. Jessica became a big inspiration in my creating this website to assist women of all ages who are facing LGBT-related challenges.
Drawing from my young life experiences, I have also written an eBook, Girls Kissing in the Closet, featuring true stories of teen girls exploring their sexuality. It will soon be available on this site, so stay tuned! In the meantime, you can catch up on some of my tweets and other lesbian talk here.
