Kiss and Tell: Carla's First Lesbian Kiss...

Most girls in eighth grade would jump at the chance to kiss a cute boy in their
class, but when I got kissed by a "cute" boy in eighth grade, I couldn't wait for it to end. If it weren’t for pressure from friends and observers nearby (and the pressure of being confined in a school bus), I wouldn’t have let the kiss happen. I was only interested in cute girls.

At the beginning of the roughly 10-second kiss, I closed my eyes and pretended it was Avril Lavigne. But, of course, my mind couldn’t be tricked, so I quickly pulled away as I felt he was getting too into it, and that was that. Worst of all, though, for the next two years, my thoughts about that moment reminded me that I hadn’t yet experienced a first kiss with a girl.

For most of my freshman year of high school, though, not having kissed a girl didn’t really bother me, as high school was enough of a challenge, what with getting use to everything new. But when I entered my sophomore year, I was very anxious to make new friends, especially girls who might be lesbian or bisexual.

On my second day as a sophomore, I noticed an interesting-looking new girl who needed some befriending. Her name was Ali, and she was emo. I was especially attracted to emo girls, even though I was of a more "conservative" stereotype, appearance-wise. Anyway, I soon introduced myself to Ali, and we ended up becoming friends.

About two months later, after Ali and I had shared countless moments of bonding time, we were about to share something else that would come as no real surprise to either of us – a first kiss. Up to that point, we hadn't discussed our sexuality with each other, but our growing attraction for one another had become obvious and felt completely natural.

Our first kiss happened at a park not far from my house. We were sitting in the grass near a wooded area as the sun was setting, and nobody was around. Holding hands, we kept staring at each other and smiling, then we looked down and back up at one another's eyes and lips. Moments later, we both leaned in and softly pressed our lips together, eyes closed (and without any thought of Avril). After stroking Ali's lips with my own, our tongues began to touch and we ended up French kissing until sundown.

That day, I will never forget. It was the beginning of a secret romantic relationship that lasted for the remainder of the school year. Unfortunately, the following summer, we broke up because we started growing apart – both of us were making new friends and trying new things. To this day, though, Ali and I are still friends and have no regrets.
